Travel Pass in South Yorkshire - Mobilty Pass / English National Concession Pass

Registered Deaf people can travel around South Yorkshire (Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham) for FREE OF CHARGE on buses, trains and trams ALL DAY.

Train Travel to West Yorkshire is FREE only on Northern Trains (slow trains).

Bus Travel around England is FREE only on local Buses NOT National Express Buses.

If you already got a Mobility pass you should have had an application form posted to you, for the English National Concession Pass, the Mobility Pass will not work from 1st October 2008. It is important that you try and fill in an application form from the SYPTE or travel centres.

You can get a English National Concession Pass application form if you go to Howden House reception (where Social services are based) to collect and fill in a Mobility Pass application form. Sheffield City Council will check if you are registered deaf before posting you the Approval Letter.

You will have to wait for the approval letter to be posted to your home address. You will need the Approval Letter from Sheffield City Council, One Passport photo and proof that you are living in South Yorkshire (E.g. Electricity Bill, water bill, any offical document with your address).

SMS to South Yorkshire Police

If you need to contact the South Yorkshire Police in emergency - send an SMS to 07786 220022 from your mobile. Please save this number on your mobile.

(Please note that this number is not reliable. If you NEED to text the police, send a message and if you get a reply within 2 minutes - then the system is working. If you do not get a reply within 2 minutes, the system is broken - get someone to call 999 or call typetalk on 18000 immediately. The Police are planning to replace this old SMS system later this year)

DASS has permission from South Yorkshire Police to test their Emergency SMS System on a daily basis. The last SMS test was on Thursday 28th February 2008, which showed that the system is working.
